ABOUT THE ARTIST
Carolyn L. Caruso was born in Seattle, Wash., but grew up in California, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Tokyo, and upstate New York. She studied fine art at Munson-Williams-Proctor-Institute ( Utica, N.Y. ) and S.U.N.Y. Purchase, where she received her B.F.A. in 1983 ( majoring in printmaking, much messier than sewing! ).  She now lives in Dutchess County, N.Y., in the beautiful Hudson Valley, with her husband Michael and has three daughters; Clara ( SUNY New Paltz student teacher ), Alicia (  SUNY Binghamton senior ), and Marisa (  SUNY Fredonia freshman ), along with one Yorkie and three cats.
A lifelong sewer and artist, and a stay-at-home mom, Carolyn first made sock dolls for  Clara when she was a baby.  Unable to stop, Carolyn turned professional in 1991 with Art and Sole Creations.  Now she makes her unique soft-sculptured sock dolls for everyone!

Carolyn is also a long-standing member
of the Hudson Valley Artisans' Guild.
She welcomes any and all correspondence
from fellow artists, Purchase alumni, and
sock doll lovers!
